Here I go travelling again

Travel is a bug for me. It has bit me big time since the last 2 years. Since my parents have banned me from any more foreign holidays, I am looking within home and I am marvelled at the treasures hidden in Gujarat itself. We decently did a girls trip to Ahmedabad and nearby places. The architecture is amazing – delicate, mysterious and grand. I was left gaping.

Anyway. I found this crochet koti (jacket) that I had got my grandmother to make when I was in school. If you remember the 90’s this fashion was a rage (Kotis over oversized shirts. Look at Suchitra’s outfit at the end of this song). Now that its spring and crochet / lace is in, I dug this out and this looks oh-so-smart. Must thank Grandma for this! She will be delighted.

For The Love Of Summer

I wish I was in college and had loads of money. I wish I worked for Vogue. I wish I was in New York and had loads of money. I could wear these outfits regularly and not wait for special occasions to wear them. Even if I could easily put together any of these outfits, I would feel miserable if it gets wasted on the crowd / location / event.

Which one do you like the most?

Keep watching my outfit sets on Polyvore.

Inspire. And Be Inspired.

Ok. So many Bollywood songs are copied or ‘inspired’ from English/Korean/Russian songs. Many hindi movie songs are ‘inspired’ from Indian folk songs. Indian actresses copy / imitate styles of Hollywood (Sonam Kapoor and JLo in Gucci evening gown??). My question is, is there a problem with that - getting inspired, which is crudely put as copying or imitating? Do we stop liking a song when we come to know it’s been copied from an English song? As long as an equally beautiful duplicate is created, what’s the harm? It’s another form of beauty or art. Looking at it from another angle, you get to appreciate two forms of the same music piece or appreciate the better one, whichever one it is.

The above outfit is similar to the following outfit worn by Deepika Padukone (the newly acquired bronze and pearl necklace reminded me exactly of this!).

PS: Did you know the song ‘Teri Meri’ from Bodyguard has been taken up from the song La Betleem Colo-n Jos by Cleopatra Stratan (its a Romanian song). Listen to it here. It’s sung by a little girl who has a very very cute voice. This doesn’t stop me from still loving Teri Meri.

My Dotted World

Life is generally good. Except the terrible M word and now the B word (B stands for budget. The whole world knows how troubled I am because of the budgeting exercise at work). Of course, except that, everything is wonderful.

My days are full these days – with work, friends, gym, books and dreams of my new venture. Having stayed for almost 7 years in Corporate,. my hands are itching to try something else. Something more creative, dynamic and satisfying. While I have lots of plans and big dreams, putting them into reality is a challenge.

There’s nothing like a lovely Sunday brunch with a bunch of dear friends. This is what we did recently and ate to our heart’s content at Taj. I put together this outfit on that fun day. Would you believe it if I said that the top is actually tailor made and the cloth piece was retrieved by me just before the wholesale cloth shop owner discarded this pretty piece as waste? Never imagine it would look this beautiful in the end!

Rockstar

New house, new flat mate, new city, new people, new maid, new neighbours, new watchmen, new colleagues. Never knew I would take so much time to settle. Never knew I would keep feeling alien and strange for a such a long time.

How many ever plans I had for the new city, I can’t help but feel lost right now. Still not used to this house. Still not come into a comfortable daily routine. Each day is still very new and strange and keeps throwing surprises every moment.

I just hope I settle down fast so that I can move on to better things than finding the laundry guy and buying utilities for the maid.
